We are thrilled to share an important update on the search for our next Vice President of Learning & Head of School at Groves Academy.
A Thoughtful Selection Process
Thank you to everyone who participated in the search process. Your insights and feedback were invaluable in shaping our final decision.
With the assistance of search consultant Andre Withers of Educator’s Collaborative and Vice President of Human Resources, our Search and Search Advisory Committees carefully reviewed over twenty-five candidates from local, regional, and national pools. After a rigorous selection process, we narrowed it down to four outstanding finalists, including Mr. Jessie Coyle.
A Leader to Carry Our Mission Forward
This leadership transition is pivotal for our organization. Our next Academy leader will carry forward the exceptional work initiated under the guidance of Dr. Lori-Anne Brogdon. I am confident that Jessie’s expertise, passion for learning, and leadership qualities will contribute significantly to our continued success.

Jessie brings a wealth of experience in education across multiple disciplines and roles. His journey began as an elementary music educator in the Islip Central and Sachem Central School Districts. From there, he expanded his expertise internationally, holding teaching and administrative positions at the American School of The Hague, the International School of Kenya, and the Kaohsiung American School. Jessie most recently served as the Lower School Director at The McGillis School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
While at McGillis, Jessie:
- Transformed the school culture into a professional learning community.

- Advanced reading achievement through systemic, explicit phonemic awareness instruction based on the science of reading.
- Re-energized parent engagement and involvement.
- Beyond his impressive track record, we are moved by Jessie’s candor, humility, curiosity, and unwavering love for children and learning.
What’s Next?
