GLO is excited to announce that Dr. Alaa Houri will be the new Director of Diagnostics at Groves Learning Center.
“We will continue to support students and families from Groves Academy and from the community by helping them develop a strong understanding of their learning profiles, their strengths, and the accommodations and supports they need to succeed.”
In her new role, Dr. Houri will lead the Groves diagnostics team of psychologists and psychometrists and conduct diagnostic assessments. She will also continue her research with Groves Literacy Partnerships. Dr. Houri has been a psychologist at Groves since 2021.
“I am fortunate to be part of the GLO community, where we strive to support students who struggle with learning disabilities and attention disorders in many ways, and I am thrilled to serve as the Director of Diagnostics. I strongly believe that our work as psychologists should be grounded in evidence-based practices,” says Dr. Houri.
Dr. Houri tells us, “Through our work in the Groves Diagnostics Department, we will continue to support students and families from both Groves Academy and from the community by helping them develop a strong understanding of their learning profiles, their strengths, and the accommodations and supports they need to succeed. We will also provide strong training opportunities to future psychology leaders in the best-practice approaches for evaluating and supporting students with learning disabilities and attention disorders.”
The professional psychologists at Groves conduct psychoeducational evaluations and work with families to recommend specific educational interventions, services, and accommodations to empower children to discover their brilliance, overcome challenges, and succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Psychologists also participate in organization-wide strategic initiatives and projects to help GLO advance its mission beyond the diagnostic assessment.
